Most GPs will have worked in practices that use EMIS at some point in their training or career as it is used by around half of the practices in the UK.

Once you have used EMIS and found your way around on one EMIS instance, your EMIS skills are readily transferable. Anyone who has used EMIS in the past will almost certainly know where to find important information such as a medical summary, the medication module and where to find problems or past consultations.

This means that new doctors, locums or any other practice staff are likely to be familiar with the way that data is accessed and recorded and it is unlikely that further training will be needed.
