Overview

When registering a dummy patient, you must complete the essential fields so that EMIS Web recognises the record as valid. This allows you to test and train without using real patient data.

Mandatory fields

  • Title – This also sets the default Gender, though you can override it.
  • Family Name – Enter the dummy patient’s surname.
  • Given Name – Enter at least one given name.
  • Date of Birth – Use any date in the valid format.
  • House Name/Flat Number or Number & Street – At least one of these must be completed to record an address.
  • Town/City – Enter the town/city for the address.

If a different Main Language is selected, the Interpreter Required field becomes mandatory. NHS number can be left blank; EMIS Web will mark it as ‘Unknown’. Meeting these requirements ensures you can accurately test scenarios without using real patient details.

“Having dummy patient records lets administrators and clinicians rehearse workflows without risking data integrity or patient privacy.”
