Adding Carers and Notes in a Dummy Patient’s Record
When using dummy patients in EMIS Web, you can capture carer details and attach relevant notes to replicate real-world scenarios without placing any real patient data at risk. Because dummy records are excluded from the Spine, these entries won’t generate interactions with other systems.
Carer Information
To add a carer, you can use the Family/Relationship Links tab under Registration or the dedicated Carers screen if enabled:
- Registered patient as carer: Use Patient Find to locate their record, then mark them as a carer and state whether they are the main carer.
- Free text carer entry: If the carer doesn’t exist in EMIS Web, enter their details manually, including address and emergency contact options if required.
Tip: When recording sensitive carer information, remember that even though it’s a dummy record, you should maintain normal confidentiality procedures as part of good practice.
Adding Notes
Use the Additional Notes section under Registration or in a similar part of your system’s configuration to store reminders, instructions, or scenario-specific comments. This helps you rehearse genuine documentation processes and improves familiarity with EMIS Web for training or testing purposes.
Capturing carer details and adding notes to a dummy patient can help your team simulate care pathways without exposing private patient data.
