The EPS Bulk Signing feature in EMIS Web is designed to streamline the prescribing process for clinicians by enabling them to approve multiple prescription tasks collectively, rather than individually.
Eligibility and Exclusions
While this capability can significantly improve efficiency, there are specific exclusions to be aware of when using the Bulk Signing feature:
- Tasks where the patient's medication review or individual drug review is overdue are not eligible for bulk signing.
- Prescriptions requiring reauthorisation are excluded.
- Tasks with unmapped quantities.
- Certain warning types like NSPA, extra high severity, allergy contradictions, or prescriptions involving certain drugs (e.g., sodium valproate) are excluded.
If a task does not meet these criteria, it must be signed individually to ensure compliance and patient safety.
Utilising the Bulk Signing Feature
To use Bulk Signing, follow these steps:
- Access the Awaiting Signing folder within Medicine Management.
- Select a task and click on Bulk Signing.
- Confirm action by entering your smartcard PIN.
- You can select ALL items on the page or individually choose tasks to approve and complete.
This functionality expedites the signing of prescriptions, enhancing productivity by reducing the administrative load on clinicians.
