Hero Health - EMIS Web Support Guide

Which product types do not support allergy alerting in EMIS Web and why?

Care record
Beginner

EMIS Web facilitates the recording and alerting of allergies within a patient's medical record. However, the capability to trigger allergy alerts depends on the type of product, primarily based on whether the active ingredients are documented within that product.

Unsupported Product Types for Allergy Alerting

Allergy alert functionality in EMIS Web is unavailable for the following product types:

  • Appliances: Due to the absence of data sheets, active ingredients are not populated for appliances, preventing allergy alerting.
  • Dressings: Currently, dressings lack active ingredient population except those with Ibuprofen, Silver, Honey, or Iodine, limiting alert capability.

Allergy information can be logged in a patient's care record for these product types, but this won't trigger alerts when such a product is issued. Comprehensive allergy coding using SNOMED CT or EMIS unique codes is advised for optimal care management.

"EMIS Web's allergy alerting capability provides a safeguard for clinicians, reducing potential adverse reactions by flagging allergies before prescription issuance."
