In EMIS Web’s Medicine Management, the EPS Bulk Signing feature allows clinicians to sign multiple electronic prescriptions (EPS) tasks simultaneously, greatly enhancing the efficiency of processing prescriptions. This is particularly beneficial for handling the "Awaiting Signing" tasks, as it removes the need to sign each task individually.
Using the EPS Bulk Signing Feature
To use the EPS Bulk Signing feature, first navigate to your Medicine Management's Awaiting Signing folder. Ensure that you have the correct Workflow View in action. Select a task within the folder, which will make the Bulk Signing option visible on the screen. Upon selection, enter your smartcard PIN to proceed to the EPS Bulk Signing screen.
Steps for Bulk Signing:
- Select "ALL" to choose all displayed items or manually select individual tasks suitable for bulk signing.
- Use the "Approve and Complete" function to sign the tasks in one go.
- Review any prominent patient warnings before completing the bulk signing.
The system also allows you to decide if certain tasks need unselecting from a bulk sign to revisit individually later.
"By bulk signing EPS tasks, practices can speed up administrative processes, conserving clinician time for patient care rather than paperwork."
Eligibility Criteria and Exclusions
The bulk signing feature only supports tasks that are eligible to move to "Awaiting Signing". However, functionalities do not include tasks with overdue medication review dates, drugs needing reauthorisation, or prescriptions receiving critical warnings like allergy contradictions. These must be addressed individually.
Additionally, certain online prescription requests from patients can also be bulk signed. This requires additional eligibility criteria and configuration, such as not allowing drugs from controlled schedule 2 or 3, and ensuring prescriptions are not private.

To further enhance operational efficiency, consider integrating with Hero Health’s Care Navigation and Triage solution. This integration allows patients to submit medication requests through customisable online pathways, potentially reducing the inflow of repetitive administrative tasks to your practice.
