What is an unregistered patient on EMIS Web

Overview

An unregistered patient in EMIS Web is a placeholder for someone who needs an appointment but has not yet been added to your official patient list. This is useful for handling situations like one-off visits, urgent care needs, or patients who have not completed registration but require immediate attention.

How to book an unregistered patient

  • Open your Appointment Book and select the required date and session.
  • Right-click a free slot and choose Book unregistered patient.
  • Enter the person’s name, choose a reason for the appointment, and add any notes.
  • Confirm the slot type, then click Book.

"Allowing appointments for unregistered patients saves time for administrators by bypassing full registration steps when dealing with urgent or unexpected visits."

If you later register this patient, you can update the placeholder details in the appointment to reflect their new record.
