To export GP practice demographic data to an EMIS PCN Hub, there are two primary methods available, each designed to streamline the process effectively:
Method 1: EMIS Enterprise Search & Reports
This method allows you to export demographic data seamlessly across multiple practices using a sophisticated search and report tool. The key benefits include:
- Speed and Efficiency: This option is the quickest method for data export, ideal for networks handling large volumes of patient data.
- Reporting Level Settings: Ensure the system is set to the 'Patient-identifiable Reporting' level for the export.
- Licensing: Note that this method requires the appropriate licensing and the completion of the QM1169 Enterprise Search & Reports PID form.
Once configured, practices authorise the export on their systems, and the EMIS PCN Hub handles the import efficiently.
Method 2: Individual Practice Exports
For practices without access to EMIS Enterprise Search & Reports, exporting a .CSV file individually at each practice is an alternative. Key actions include:
- CSV Formatting: Ensure files are prepared using a pipe-delimited format instead of commas for seamless integration.
- Review Data: It’s recommended to review exported files in a text editor like Notepad or Notepad++ to avoid issues such as missing leading zeros.
- Sending Files: Once verified, send the .CSV files securely via the SFTP server provided by the EMIS Migration Team.
"Utilising a demographic import can significantly reduce setup times for new patients accessing hub services, eliminating the need for time-consuming manual tracing."
The demographic data exports should comply with data protection agreements, using Enhanced Data Sharing Agreements and GP Connect's national data sharing framework.
