Hero Health - EMIS Web Support Guide

How does the cross-organisation patient warning system work in EMIS Web?

Intermediate

The cross-organisation patient warning system in EMIS Web enhances communication across healthcare settings by sharing essential patient warnings, such as automated Child Health Information Systems (CHIS) warnings, between organisations using a shared Care Record agreement.

Types of Patient Warnings

  • CHIS Patient Warnings: Automatically shared with all organisations in the agreement, taking precedence over local warnings.
  • Shared Patient Warnings: Available in the expanded patient précis when a shared Care Record agreement is active.

Managing Cross-Organisation Warnings

To manage these warnings effectively, ensure the Care Record sharing agreement is activated and:

  • Adding CHIS Warnings: Access the module, use Patient Find to select a patient, and add a CHIS clinical term. This automatically generates a relevant warning.
  • Editing and Deleting Warnings: You can only modify warnings that your organisation has created. Access the patient précis and go to the Manage Patient Warnings section.
  • Displaying Warnings: View these warnings in the patient précis, and trigger them based on actions such as consultation or prescription additions.
"By streamlining the warning visibility across organisations, EMIS Web helps maintain comprehensive and up-to-date patient records, ultimately improving patient safety and care continuity."
