Using EMIS Web to book an unregistered patient for a cross-organisation appointment and registering them at the hub involves several steps:
Booking the Appointment
- Navigate to the Find Cross Organisation Appointments screen and select the relevant hub organisation.
- On the Patient Trace screen, conduct a search for the patient to check if they are already registered at the hub.
- If the patient is not found, select Book as an unregistered patient.
- Complete the booking screen, entering the patient's full name and pertinent demographic details, such as the NHS number, in the Booking Notes field.
- Click Book Appointment.
Registering the Patient at the Hub
- In the hub's appointment book, unregistered patients are marked by their name only. Use the patient demographic details in Booking Notes to trace the patient on the Patient Trace screen.
- Locate the patient under the Shared Patient tab or the PDS tab, using the NHS number for accurate identification.
- Select the patient and click Accept to complete their registration.
- Right-click on the appointment slot to update it and choose Register Patient. Confirm the correct patient on the Patient Trace screen and click OK.
Benefit: This process ensures comprehensive consultation records are seamlessly integrated back into the patient's primary GP care record, maintaining a holistic view of their medical history.
