Creating a GP Connect-Filtered Session
You can restrict or reserve appointment slots for specific organisations when creating a new session in EMIS Web, helping you manage how external providers access your appointments.
Steps to Create and Filter a Session
- Access the Appointment Book: In EMIS Web, go to the main menu, point to Appointments, and select Appointment Book.
- Create the session: On the ribbon, click Create Session. Complete the details (name, date, time range, session type, holder, and slot duration). Once you fill these in, the All slots GP Connect Bookable field becomes active.
- Enable GP Connect slots: Set All slots GP Connect Bookable to Yes. This will allow you to filter who can book them.
- Apply filters: Click Apply Filter. Choose a filter type such as Organisation, Organisation Group, or Organisation Type, then select the name or type. Enter a number of slots and decide whether to reserve or limit them:
- Reserve: Ensures certain organisations have exclusive access to that number of GP Connect slots.
- Limit: Caps the number of slots these organisations can book, but still shows unreserved slots to other users.
- Finish and save: Click Create to add the new session with your chosen filters.
Session filters can save time and frustration by preventing unintentional bookings. Reserving or limiting slots gives you complete control over how many appointments are accessible to external organisations.
