Creating Signing Tasks for Electronic Prescriptions
To allow non-prescribing staff to create signing tasks for electronic prescriptions in EMIS Web while maintaining safety standards, follow these guidelines:Accessing Medicine Management
Log into EMIS Web and select Workflow Manager. Navigate to Medicine Management from the navigation panel. Ensure you have the necessary RBAC permissions.
Creating a Signing Task
- Log in using your smartcard.
- Select the pertinent medication(s) to issue, and click Issue.
- If the Issue Validation screen shows safety validation warnings, you must have the Permit Medication Issue Warning Override option in your user settings to proceed.
- If there are medium or high severity warnings, you might only be allowed to create a prescription request.
- If everything is in order, specify the prescriber in the 'To be signed by' field who will handle the task.
- Select Forward and Complete to create the task.
The request will be placed in the Awaiting Signing folder for the selected prescriber.

Handling Prescription Requests
- Select the request from Prescription Requests in the navigation pane.
- Use the Open option to view and process the task on the Workflow Task screen.
- Administrative tasks such as adding notes or assigning the task to another user can be performed from here.
